Mark Shapiro joined Tribune Company’s board of directors in 2008. He is president and chief executive officer of Six Flags, Inc.
Shapiro became president and CEO of Six Flags in 2005. Prior to Six Flags, Shapiro spent 12 years at ESPN, most recently as executive vice president, programming and production. During his tenure, he garnered 16 Emmy Awards and the only two Peabody Awards won by ESPN to date. Prior to ESPN, Shapiro worked in various positions for NBC Sports from 1989 to 1992.
Shapiro is a member of the United States Travel and Tourism Advisory Board and the Abu Dhabi Investment House Advisory Board. He is also a board member of Live Nation.
A Chicago native, Shapiro graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
