
Tribune Interactive First to Provide
AT&T Digital PocketNet(sm) Users Wireless Local News and
Information
Alliance enables users
to view Latimes.com content via wireless phones
CHICAGO, February 21, 2001 --
Tribune Interactive, Inc., a leader in
interactive news and information Web sites and a subsidiary
of Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB),
today announced that it has signed an agreement with AT&T
Wireless to become the first provider of local news and information
on AT&T Digital PocketNet (sm) service. AT&T Wireless
will be the first carrier to offer local content on its wireless
Internet service.
Beginning February 26, 2001, Tribune Interactive
will provide headlines and full-length news stories from the
latimes.com to AT&T Digital PocketNet customers via their
compatible Internet-ready wireless phones. In addition, this
alliance enables Tribune Interactive to provide content from
seven of its other newspaper Web sites: chicagotribune.com,
newsday.com,
orlandosentinel.com,
sunspot.net
(The Baltimore Sun), sun-sentinel.com
(South Florida Sun-Sentinel), ctnow.com
(The Hartford Courant) and mcall.com
(The Morning Call, Allentown, Pa.). Rollout of content to
the individual markets will continue throughout the Spring.
