for The Morning Call
Sun-Sentinel executive
Susan Hunt to succeed Guy Gilmore
CHICAGO, June 18, 2001 -- Susan
Hunt, Vice President/General Manager of Sun-Sentinel Company,
has been named President, Publisher and CEO of The Morning
Call, Tribune's daily newspaper based in Allentown, Pa.
"Susan Hunt has done a terrific job at
our newspapers in Orlando and South Florida. She's an experienced
executive who will build on The Morning Call's heritage of
journalistic quality and excellent financial performance,"
said Jack W. Fuller, President of Tribune Publishing Company.
From 1986 to 1997, Hunt held management positions
at Orlando Sentinel Communications. She was named Vice President/Operations
for the Sun-Sentinel in 1997 and became Vice President/General
Manager in 1999 with overall responsibility for the company's
operations including advertising, finance, circulation, operations,
technology and human resource and Community News Group divisions.
At The Morning Call, Hunt succeeds Guy Gilmore.
"The newspaper has come a long way in the last year.
Revenue growth has outperformed our peers and circulation
has shown the best results in seven years. I am proud of these
accomplishments but I've been working hard for 25 years in
the newspaper business and look forward to taking some time
off before pursuing future business opportunities. My family
and I enjoy the valley and plan to stay for the foreseeable
future," Gilmore said.
Gilmore was named Publisher in April 2000.
Before joining The Morning Call, Gilmore was Vice President/Circulation
and Production of The Baltimore Sun. Previously he was a circulation
executive at various newspapers and was general manager of
USA Today.
