Honors
Two Tribune Interactive
sites win swards from Newspaper Association of America
Four other Tribune Interactive
sites named finalists
CHICAGO, July 24, 2001 -- Tribune
Interactive, Inc., a leader in interactive news and information
Web sites and a subsidiary of Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB),
announced today that Metromix.com, Chicago's leading online
entertainment guide, and Mcall.com, the online newspaper of
The Morning Call of Allentown, Pa., have been awarded Digital
Edge Awards from the Newspaper Association of America (NAA).
Four other Tribune Interactive sites were named finalists
also.
The Digital Edge Awards, sponsored by NAA's
New Media Federation, celebrate outstanding online achievement
in nine categories. The awards honor sites produced by small,
medium and large circulation newspapers.
Metromix.com (www.metromix.com)
received the Best Regional or City Guide Award (in the 250,000
or more circulation category) for its compelling content,
habit-forming utilities and dynamic interactive features.

Chicago. "We've worked hard to be the leading entertainment
site in Chicago and offer the content and functionality that
busy consumers deserve."
In addition to 20,000 diverse events listings
and more than 15,000 destination capsules, Metromix.com provides
extensive dining and nightlife coverage, as well as movies,
music, museum and theater content.
Mcall.com
received the Public Service Award (in the 75,000-250,000 circulation
category) for its April 30, 2001, special news section titled
"Tomorrow's Taxes: Interactive Carbon County Reassessment"
(www.mcall.com/special/reassessment).
The section combined the newspaper's reporting with online
tools to view county assessment data and calculate tax impact
throughout Carbon County, Pa.
"The beauty of interactive content is
that it enables Mcall.com to provide tools that give readers
the ability to learn more about complex issues," said
Elaine Hall, general manager of Mcall.com. "In this case,
we were able to help Carbon County property owners investigate
how their taxes may be impacted. It not only provided useful

were:
- a search engine to search assessments for
every property in the county and the ability to find the
value and look for information that could be helpful in
appeal;
- a calculator to estimate how the assessments
will impact a property tax bill in 2001;

- and a Q&A section.
