Tribune Names William Shaw VP/GM WGN Cable

CHICAGO, February 19, 2002 -- Tribune Cable President Michael Eigner today announced that Bill Shaw has been named vice president/general manager of WGN Superstation. He will manage the daily operations, affiliate distribution, and sales for WGN Superstation effective immediately.

Shaw joined Tribune Television as vice president/sales in August 2001.

"WGN Superstation is an important asset for Tribune Company," said Eigner. "Bill is a seasoned professional whose leadership and marketing skills are ideally suited to generate further growth for WGN Superstation."

Prior to joining Tribune, Shaw was president and CEO of Fox Television Sales, the Fox/Petry joint venture which handled national sales for the Fox owned and operated stations. Previously, Shaw was president of Petry National Television, which represented 83 television stations coast-to-coast.

"Cable is an exciting and challenging market that offers Tribune substantial future growth," said Shaw. "WGN Superstation is widely viewed in both cable and satellite homes reaching more than 56 million homes. WGN delivers a large, attractive audience for advertisers and offers enormous opportunity for subscriber growth and increased advertising revenue."

Shaw will be based at Tribune Cable offices in New York.
