Tribune Television Names Lawrence Delia
VP/General Manager of WGNO-TV and WNOL-TV
CHICAGO, April 17, 2002 -- Tribune
Television today announced that television executive Lawrence
(Larry) Delia has been named VP/General Manager of Tribune's
television duopoly in New Orleans - WGNO-TV (ABC26) and WNOL-TV
(WB38). Delia joins Tribune from WVNY-TV (ABC22) in Burlington,
Vt., where he has been general manager since June 1998.
"We are pleased to have Larry Delia join
Tribune Company as general manager of our New Orleans operation,"
said Patrick Mullen, president of Tribune Television. "Larry
is a successful broadcaster with a proven track record which
make him an excellent choice for this post."
Prior to WVNY-TV, Delia spent ten years with
WTIC-TV (FOX61) in Hartford, Connecticut, which was acquired
by Tribune in 1997. He joined that station as a sales account
executive in 1988, was promoted to local sales manager in
1992, national sales manager in 1996, and became general sales
manager in 1997. Early in his career, he worked for the ABC
Television Network in affiliate relations.
"This is a great opportunity," said
Delia. "I'm thrilled to join WGNO-TV and WNOL-TV and
work with the talented staff of both stations. It's a pleasure
to be rejoining Tribune Television, and I look forward to
helping serve the New Orleans market."
A native New York, born September 23, 1962,
Delia holds a bachelor's degree from University of Massachusetts
at Amherst. He serves on several Burlington-area boards including
the Cancer Patient Support Program, the Burlington YMCA and
the Burlington Business Association.
"We are excited to have Larry join our
excellent management team in New Orleans," said Joe Young,
regional vice president for Tribune Television. "Larry's
station management and sales experience will be a real plus
for Tribune's New Orleans duopoly."
