Tribune Broadcasting Names John Hendricks
VP of Sales
CHICAGO, July 1, 2002 -- Tribune
Broadcasting, a unit of Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB),
today announced that John Hendricks has been named vice president
of sales. Hendricks will coordinate sales efforts for Tribune
Broadcasting's 24 television stations, develop strategic business
and sales initiatives, coordinate group advertising deals
and manage relationships with key sales-related organizations.
His appointment is effective July 8.
Hendricks joins Tribune from WFLD-TV, Chicago,
where he has been vice president/general sales manager since
2000, and previously was local sales manager from 1997-2000.
Prior to that, he worked for WGN-TV, Chicago, from 1993-1997
as an account executive and later as national sales manager.
"John is a talented sales executive who
knows television advertising well," said Pat Mullen,
Tribune Television president. "His leadership and experience
will prove invaluable as we continue to grow Tribune's broadcasting
business. We are thrilled to have John back with Tribune Broadcasting."
Prior to WGN-TV, Hendricks held sales and executive
positions at Katz Television, Chicago, from 1987-1993; and
Faulkner Advertising Associates, Inc. of Baltimore from 1985-1987.
Early in his career, he worked for WBAY-TV, Green Bay, Wis.,
and for CBS Sports in Chicago.

Tribune Broadcasting owns and operates
23 major-market television stations, including national superstation
WGN-TV, and reaches more than 80 percent of U.S. television
households. The acquisition of WTTV-TV, Indianapolis, is expected
to close during the fourth quarter of 2002, pending regulatory
approvals. The group's investment interests include The WB
Television Network (22%) and TV Food Network (31%). Tribune
Entertainment Company develops and distributes first-run television
programming for the Tribune station group and for national
syndication. Tribune Broadcasting also owns and operates Chicago's
WGN-AM and the Chicago Cubs baseball team.
