Tribune Broadcasting Names John Hendricks VP of Sales

CHICAGO, July 1, 2002 -- Tribune Broadcasting, a unit of Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB), today announced that John Hendricks has been named vice president of sales. Hendricks will coordinate sales efforts for Tribune Broadcasting's 24 television stations, develop strategic business and sales initiatives, coordinate group advertising deals and manage relationships with key sales-related organizations. His appointment is effective July 8.

Hendricks joins Tribune from WFLD-TV, Chicago, where he has been vice president/general sales manager since 2000, and previously was local sales manager from 1997-2000. Prior to that, he worked for WGN-TV, Chicago, from 1993-1997 as an account executive and later as national sales manager.

"John is a talented sales executive who knows television advertising well," said Pat Mullen, Tribune Television president. "His leadership and experience will prove invaluable as we continue to grow Tribune's broadcasting business. We are thrilled to have John back with Tribune Broadcasting."

Prior to WGN-TV, Hendricks held sales and executive positions at Katz Television, Chicago, from 1987-1993; and Faulkner Advertising Associates, Inc. of Baltimore from 1985-1987. Early in his career, he worked for WBAY-TV, Green Bay, Wis., and for CBS Sports in Chicago.

"This is a terrific opportunity," said Hendricks. "I'm delighted to rejoin Tribune and I look forward to working with its 24 major-market television stations and WGN Superstation."
