Tribune Declares Quarterly Dividend
Appoints
Vice President/Employee and Labor Relations
CHICAGO, July 23, 2002 -- Tribune
Company's (NYSE:TRB) board
of directors declared a regular quarterly dividend of $.11
per share on common stock payable on Sept. 12, 2002, to shareholders
of record at the close of business on Aug. 29, 2002. The board
made the declaration at its regular meeting earlier today.
The board also elected Howard G. Weinstein as vice president/employee
and labor relations. He is responsible for overseeing labor
relations strategy, contract negotiations, and labor counsel
for all Tribune business units. The appointment is effective
Aug. 1.
"Howard's extensive labor relations and
legal experience will provide expert counsel to Tribune on
employee relations matters," said Luis Lewin, Tribune
senior vice president/human resources. "His knowledge
and depth of understanding of labor issues will enable him
to bring leadership to this important area of our business."
Since 1997, Weinstein served as vice president/human
resources and organizational development for The Baltimore
Sun. He joined the newspaper as director/labor relations in
October 1991.
Prior to joining The Sun, Weinstein worked
as a labor and employment attorney with the Baltimore-based
law firm of Venable, Baetjer and Howard. From 1985 to 1990,
he served as employee relations manager of Container Corporation
of America in Philadelphia. Prior to that he was with Armco
Steel in Baltimore, and the National Labor Relations Board
in Peoria, Ill.
Weinstein earned his law degree at Temple University,
graduating summa cum laude. He also holds a master's degree
in human resources and labor relations, summa cum laude, from
the University of Illinois, and a bachelor's degree from the
State University of New York at Binghamton.
