Tribune Names Mike Plonski Vice President/Tribune

Interactive Chief Technology Officer assumes expanded role
CHICAGO, September 13, 2002 --
Tribune Company, (NYSE:
TRB), one of the country’s premier media companies,
operating businesses in broadcasting, publishing and on the
Internet, today announced the appointment of Mike Plonski
as
vice president /Tribune Information Systems. Plonski will
oversee Tribune’s corporate technology infrastructure.
He will also continue in his current role as Tribune Interactive’s
vice president/chief technology officer.
"Tribune Interactive has benefited greatly
from Mike’s leadership," said Dennis FitzSimons,
Tribune president and chief operating officer. "He was
instrumental in the design and implementation of Tribune Interactive’s
state-of-the-art online publishing platform and helped create
an industry-leading technology staff. Mike’s leadership
and technical expertise will continue to be an asset in managing
and growing our business."
Plonski was named vice president/chief technology officer
of Tribune Interactive in December 2000 where he led the implementation
of a proprietary standards-based content management and publishing
platform across Tribune’s national network of news and
information Web sites. Prior to that, he served as Tribune
Interactive vice president/technical operations and was responsible
for technology infrastructure, quality assurance of Internet
activities and development support for existing production
systems.
Plonski was director/processing technology
of Tribune Information Systems from January to June 1999,
where he focused on the data center, technical operations,
systems support, networks and telecommunications.

Plonski joined Tribune from Classified Ventures
LLC, where he was director/technical operations from April
1998 to January 1999, responsible for the development and
production of technical systems, data center operations and
user support. From 1994 to 1998, he was senior manager/technical
operations at Peapod Inc. Before becoming involved in technical
operations, Plonski served in various positions at Andersen
Consulting LLC from 1991 to 1994.
