Tribune Names Jim Zerwekh
VP/General Manager of KWGN-TV, Denver
CHICAGO, February 19, 2004 --
Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB) today named broadcast executive
Jim Zerwekh as vice president/general manager of KWGN-TV
(WB2), Denver, effective March 8. Zerwekh was previously
vice president/general manager at
WBZL-TV (WB39), the company’s television station
in Miami.
"Jim is a proven leader who brings years
of experience in virtually every facet of television broadcasting
to his new duties at KWGN," said Patrick Mullen, Tribune
Broadcasting president. "He’s been a programming
executive, a station manager, and a general manager, and
highly successful in each role. Jim is the ideal fit for
the station."
For the past four years, Zerwekh has served as general
manager of WBZL-TV, responsible for all aspects of the
station. Previously, he was station manager of WGN-TV (WB9),
Chicago from 1995 to 2000, and programming director at
the station from 1988 to 1995. Prior to joining WGN, Zerwekh
was program director at KMSP-TV, Minneapolis.

a solid reputation established through years of strong news
coverage, solid programming and effective community involvement,"

A native of Peoria, Ill., Zerwekh holds
a bachelor’s
degree in communications from Illinois State University.
He serves on the board of the Broward Workshop and the Florida
Association of Broadcasters, and on the broadcast advisory
board of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
