Tribune Names Rich Engberg
VP/General Manager of WBZL-TV, Miami/Fort Lauderdale
CHICAGO and FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, March
10, 2004 -- Tribune Company (NYSE:
TRB) today named broadcast executive Rich Engberg as vice
president/general manager of WBZL-TV (WB39), the company’s
station serving the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market. The appointment
is effective immediately. Engberg was previously director
of sales for WBZL.
"Rich has built and led a great sales
team at the station," said Bob Gremillion, who oversees
the operation of WBZL and is also publisher of Tribune’s
daily newspaper, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "He’s
a seasoned broadcast executive who has been particularly effective
in mounting cross-media efforts involving all of Tribune’s
media properties in South Florida."
Engberg joined WBZL in 2001 and has been responsible for
all national and local sales activities, including market
research. His focus on developing best practices and training
is credited with driving WBZL’s solid sales performance.
Prior to joining WBZL, Engberg’s career included TV
sales and management positions in such markets as Chicago,
New York, Phoenix and Pittsburgh.

Miami/Ft.Lauderdale is the nation’s seventeenth largest
television market. Tribune acquired WBZL in 1997.
