Tribune Names Tom Ehlmann
VP/General Manager of WGN-TV, Chicago
CHICAGO, April
6, 2004 -- Tribune
Company (NYSE:TRB) today named broadcast veteran Tom
Ehlmann as vice president/general manager of WGN-TV
(WB9), Chicago, effective April 26. Ehlmann was previously
vice president/general manager at KHWB-TV (WB39), the
company’s television station
in Houston.
"Tom is a very successful and experienced
general manager with a strong track record," said
Pat Mullen, Tribune Broadcasting president. "He is
a proven leader with Midwestern roots who’ll do a terrific
job in leading the strong team at WGN."
Ehlmann served as vice president/general
manager of KHWB for six years, responsible for all aspects
of station operations. He previously served as the station’s
general sales manager from 1996 to 1998. Before that he
was general sales manager at KOVR-TV (CBS13), Sacramento,
Calif., from 1994 to1996. Ehlmann also held several sales
management positions, including general sales manager at
KDNL-TV (ABC30) in St. Louis from 1992 to 1994. He began
his sales career at KMSB-TV (FOX11), Tucson, Ariz., in
1978, and later worked for Telerep in St. Louis and Chicago.
"Tom has achieved success at both the
sales management and general management levels for us in
Houston," said
John Vitanovec, Tribune Broadcasting group vice president.
"His experience in sports marketing, prime news, and entertainment
programming and promotion will bolster an already strong
staff at WGN."

A native of St. Charles, Mo., Ehlmann
holds a bachelor’s
degree in political science from the University of Arizona.
He serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association
of Broadcasters and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater
Houston. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Houston
Chapter of AWRT and serves on the Executive Committee of
the Board for Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas.
