Tribune Names Jerome
Martin VP/General Manager of WXIN-TV and WTTV-TV, Indianapolis
CHICAGO, August 9, 2004 -- Tribune
Company (NYSE:TRB) today named broadcast veteran Jerome (Jerry)
Martin as vice president/general manager of WXIN-TV (FOX59)
and WTTV-TV (WB4) in Indianapolis, effective August 23. Martin
was previously the vice president/general manager of WBDC-TV
(WB50), the company's television station in Washington ,
D.C.
"Jerry brings more than 20 years of television
station sales and management experience to our duopoly in
Indianapolis ," said Pat Mullen, Tribune Broadcasting president.
"In Indianapolis , we've combined our two stations television
operations in a brand new $10 million facility and have also
chosen this site for our new centralized distribution center
serving all 26 Tribune stations. Jerry's depth of experience
makes him uniquely qualified to lead our Indianapolis stations
at this important and complex facility."
Martin joined WBDC-TV in 2000 and was responsible for all
aspects of the station. From 1997 to 2000, he served as vice
president/general manager of WTIC-TV, Hartford , Conn. He
was responsible for the day-to-day management of WTIC, and,
under a local management agreement with Tiberius Broadcasting,
WTXX-TV, Waterbury , Conn. Martin also served as general
sales manager of WTIC from 1993 to 1997; and general sales
manager of WTXX from 1992 to 1993. Earlier positions include
national sales manager from 1987 to 1991 at KTXL-TV, Tribune's
station in Sacramento , Calif.
"Jerry has achieved great success and
is a talented television station executive," said John Vitanovec,
Tribune Broadcasting group vice president. "He's done a terrific
job in quickly building our Washington WB affiliate and I
know he'll do a great job leading the strong team already
in place at WXIN and WTTV."
Prior to joining Tribune Company, Martin was an account
executive at Petry Television and account executive at WJAR-TV,
Providence , R.I.

A native of Pittsburgh , born November 23,
1957 , Martin holds a bachelor's degree in business administration
from the University of Maine , Orono. He serves on the board
and executive committees for the Urban League of Greater
Washington and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the National Capital
Area.
