Tribune Names Eric
Meyrowitz VP/General Manager of WBDC-TV, Washington
CHICAGO, September 13, 2004 -- Tribune
Broadcasting, a division of Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB), today
appointed broadcast sales executive Eric Meyrowitz as vice
president/general manager of WBDC-TV (WB50) in Washington,
D.C., effective immediately. Meyrowitz was previously the
station's general sales manager and succeeds Jerry Martin,
who last month was appointed vice president/general manager
of Tribune's Indianapolis stations, WXIN-TV (FOX59) and WTTV-TV
(WB4).
"Eric is a great choice to lead WBDC,"
said Pat Mullen, Tribune Broadcasting president. "His sales
expertise and in-depth knowledge of the Washington television
market will be great assets as WB50 achieves even greater
success."
Meyrowitz was promoted to general sales manager at WBDC-TV
in April 2002. He joined the station in 2000 as local sales
manager.
"The combination of Eric's sales background
and natural leadership skills make him well-suited for this
new opportunity," said
John Vitanovec, Tribune Broadcasting group vice president.
"His proven talent for growing sales and building sales teams
provide the experience we need in the nation's eighth-largest
market."
Prior to WBDC, Meyrowitz served as national
sales manager for WBAL-TV in Baltimore, from 1997 to 2000.
He worked for Harrington, Righter & Parsons, a television
sales representative firm, from 1992 to 1997.
"I'm looking forward to helping WBDC
continue the strong momentum we've established over the last
few years," said
Meyrowitz. "We have a fantastic team in place here and we're
in great position to build on our success."
A native of Roslyn, N.Y., Meyrowitz holds a bachelor's degree
from Boston University. He is a member of the Washington
Advertising Club and the Advertising Association of Baltimore.
He also serves on the board of the Washington chapter of
Communities in Schools.
